f., pl. viprar (?), not vipur, for the r is radical, as is seen from the spelling in vellums and also from Norse vipre, Ivar Aasen:—a toy; barna vipr, a child’s toy; þat þótti allt sem barna vipr er aðrar konur görðu hjá því sem hón görði, Mirm. 140 (Ed. Kölbing); þykkir honum allt sem ungmennis-leikr eðr barna vipr þat sem hann hafði áðr numit hjá klerkdómi meistara Peri, Clar.; þótti allt barna vipr þat er aðrar konur höfðu í skarti hjá henni, Ld. 122 (vipur einar, Fms. ii. 21, l. c., should be viprar einar?).
